Reactance theory

Although I don't know what happened to the world today.

Well I still learn something new everyday.
Today I learned about reactance theory in the social psychology class.
It means that when people feel that their freedom to choose an action is threatened, they get an unpleasant feeling called 'reactance'. This also motivates them to perform the threatened behavior to reduce the feeling of reactance.

People need freedom. When there is a threat to freedom, people will get an unpleasant feeling called reactance. They need to restore the sense of freedom by real behaviors.
For example: A very strict mother can make her kid rebellious. She needs to be willing to face the problem in her family rather than keep suppressing her child. Uncle Google told me that to solve the problem, parent should listen to the kid's concerns and nurture them, acknowledge the boundaries you set for them, allow them to make decisions for themselves, praise their good qualities, do not compare them to others and most important is respect the kid.

Sounds like tips for parents right? lol
This theory can be applied to daily life.
Although it seems like common sense, but sometimes people forget about this.

Love is the best medicine always.
